A President Who Prays
I understand that I post an awful lot of negative things about the Bush administration, and even about George Bush himself in the job he has done as president. That's why when I received an e-mail this morning with a link to the following article, I thought I ought to share it with my audience.
George W. Bush is a man of faith, and a man who prays. Whatever my misgivings are about him and his presidency, they have nothing to do with the sincerity of his faith. The president is a brother of mine, a child of the same God, and it would be wrong of me not to acknowledge him as such.
In some important ways, he's also a good man. Bruce Vincent's remembrance of a visit with the president is an important reminder to folks like me of that fact.
Do I want George Bush in the White House another four years? No. Do I want him praying with and for me and those I love? Absolutely.
