Blogs

A weblog (or “blog,” as they’re commonly called) is an online journal - a place to put your thoughts and experiences for all the world to see. Sometimes all the world cares, and sometimes it doesn’t, and that’s part of the fun of it.

Disclaimer

It’s important for you to understand that these blogs in no way, shape or form should be taken to represent the opinions or positions of First Lutheran Church, Spring Creek Lutheran Church, the Eastern North Dakota Synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, or anyone else except me.

In other words, please read these blogs as the musings of a nice but opinionated young pastor who enjoys pretending he’s the publisher of a big newspaper. (No delusions of grandeur there, no sir.) I’ll do my best to keep things clean, polite and appropriate around here. As for my opinions, sometimes you’ll agree and think I’m a tremendously insightful person. Sometimes you’ll disagree, and realize what a heel I am. Either way, please take my blogs with a healthy dose of humor and a grain of salt, and we’ll be just fine. =)

For writings of mine that need no disclaimer (nor do I give one), please visit my archive of sermons. When I’m in the pulpit, I proclaim from the Word of God as I’ve been charged to do, and I make no apologies for it. Although your circumstances will sometimes be different from the folks who first heard the sermons, each one was written with much prayer and concern to speak a word from God to those particular people. If my sermons also speak to you, it only goes to show just how gracious God is.

Thanks for understanding the difference between personal opinion and public proclamation!

Please select a blog to read:

  • Musings of a Young Pastor is a look into the daily life of a pastor in his first congregation. In this blog I post a little of everything, from personal observations to editorials, from humor to theological reflection. This is my “personal” blog.
  • Preacher’s Corner is my “professional” blog. Within you’ll find meditations on the upcoming scriptures as I prepare for my preaching duties. This blog is for anyone who wrestles with the Word and seeks to understand it as the handbook for their life. (Note: I haven’t been very on the ball with this blog. I hope to get into a habit of posting more regularly. At such time as that happens, I’ll mention it here.)
