That was easier than I thought. I just switched the format for the permalinks, and then switched it back. Things are happy. (Incidentally, permalinks were another thing that had been screwed up in my old WP installation, somehow. The friendly URLs with the date and title didn’t work, just the ugly option that used each… Continue Reading
Guess things aren’t quite as worked out as I’d thought. The links from the homepage are producing 404 errors. I think it’s probably a matter of tweaking the permalinks, but I guess that’ll wait until tomorrow.… Continue Reading
It’s taken a lotĀ of tinkering, but I’ve finally managed to get my site up and running again. Something had gotten loused up in my WordPress installation quite a while back, and I haven’t been able to upgrade WP since then. Other weirdness, too, like plugins not working correctly, and such. So today I’ve been attempting… Continue Reading

It’s terrible – I’ve been sucked into the world of microblogging, and my honest-to-goodness, full-fledged, all-grown-up, big-boy’s blog has paid the price. My life has been coming in 140-character burst on Facebook and Twitter. I’ve been so neglectful of my blog that I haven’t even shared the news of my upcoming move to Pittsburgh! More… Continue Reading
Thought-provoking article in Time about a handful of congregations who are putting Twitter to use in their church – even inviting it into the worship space. I’m pretty confident this wouldn’t take off at any of the congregations I’ve served, but it’s a helpful challenge in my mind, to think about how technology migh be… Continue Reading
OK, maybe not quite in the clinical sense. But I’ve spent a rather obscene amount of time the last few weeks working on my new version of the St. John’s web site. (It’s now online, BTW, at www.stjohns-lc.org.) I’m really pleased with the reactions I’ve been getting; one of my colleagues e-mailed me: “I’M SO… Continue Reading
I think my eyes are starting to cross. I’ve spent most of the day working on a major overhaul of the church’s web site. (The changes aren’t live yet, though.) Lots of putzy work, tweaking code, troubleshooting, and such. Lots of staring at a screen. Lots of eyestrain. Things are coming along pretty well, although… Continue Reading
